Prayer

Prayer is an essential part of the spiritual life of both individuals and the Church as a whole. In particular, at St Andrews, there is a focus on supporting the Ministry of Healing through prayer.

Prayer Support for the Ministry of Healing

We invite anyone who wishes to offer prayer support for the Ministry of Healing.

Every Monday at 5.30 pm we meet in the warm and peaceful upper room above the church hall for an hour of quiet for Healing and Thanksgiving.

For guidance of our thoughts we read together two beautiful set prayers and we focus our minds on a framework of quiet meditative prayer for each other, our Church Community and our Ministry of Healing. In particular we call to mind the names written in the book of prayer requests, which is kept by the South door of the Church. A time is set aside for praise and thanksgiving for prayers answered and blessings received. We read a few verses from the Bible and spend a few minutes sharing our thoughts on the passage we have read.

As the church community grows in faith we all need to continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us, to heal our emotional and physical suffering and to lead us into reconciliation and forgiveness so that new opportunities may open and new gifts may be revealed.

There is never any need to mention personal details when we pray together. God loves each one and knows all our needs. He calls us to respect each other.

If you are able to join us, perhaps just once or maybe more regularly, we would value your presence. It is refreshing and spiritually encouraging time at the end of a busy day.
